Comments: What a wonderful site. I am hoping to do the same for my 22 year old son who is currently on Federal Death Row. With limited skills it has proven to be a formidable task. I have several writings that I will be submitting to your site in the future. However, one observation that I made from the contributions on your site so far is that I don't see God's influence in the lives of those who have relatives on Death Row. God has blessed me and family extremely through this tragedy and I know that he can and will do the same for the countless others out there in our situation. Currently, there are 3,711 people on Death Rows all over the U.S. The most important lesson that I have learned so far in the 3 years since my son's arrest is that I had to let go and let God have control. God has given me a peace in my spirit that I have never had in my entire life until now. He says in his word that we have not, because we ask not. I remember the first time that I walked into the court room during my son's trial. As soon as I stepped through the doorway I heard God's voice as clear as if you were speaking to me say, "Be still and know that I am God". Then, as I stood and listened as they condemned my son to death I remember with everything in me wanting to scream, "NO!" Instead, God gave me the strength to walk to my car, put a praise and worship CD in and sing praises to him for the 75 mile drive home. That's the power to God and that's what it means to give a "sacrifice" of praise. He is so precious and he has all that we have need of.

Comments: I remember hearing of this execution a few years ago and for some reason it came up on my screen tonight. I would like you to know that I am bi-polar and knows how it feels to be mentally ill. As in my case I am a danger to my self rather than to anyone else. There are many forms of mental illness and each one has their own, for lack of a better word, side effects. Our mental healthcare system, as a nation, is in terrible shape. It is hard to get insurance to pay more than 50% of costs for mental illness. If we could get society to keep in mind that most mental illnesses can be treated the same way as lets say a bad heart.Through medication and physical and psychological treatment. What Larry did was wrong and as he has said he takes on the responsibility of his actions. I do believe that if Larry could have received the correct treatment and medication that there would still be six people here today. Our government are the guilty ones who will not put in place hospitals and treatments necessarry to get to the root of the problem. We should all be treated the same whether we have insurance or not! This is just another tragedy that should not have happened

Comments: Veronica,

I along with many, many others do not view this website as pathetic. I view it as an attempt to call attention to the fact that many times people with serious mental illness do not receive effective treatment. And many a tragedy is the result. I am very happy that your husband is coping with his health problems so well. However, I should point out that bi-polar is not exactly the same as paranoid schizophrenia. You need to know that the same treatments and knowledge that are available today, were not available 20 years ago when this tragedy happened. Even so there are thousands and thousands of individuals who do not have insurance, or a caring family to make sure they receive treatment. And I hear from many families today, who are told by medical professionals that there is nothing that can be done if a person has not already been violent. After they have been, of course it is too late. I know that the bottom line is that 5 people died. Well actually 6 if you count Larry.

I would not feel differently if it had been someone in my family that was murdered. In fact I am very lucky to be alive today since Larry came to my house a few hours before the 5 murders with the gun in his pocket to kill me.

Sorry, I still don't believe in the death penalty. It will never prevent the next severely mentally ill person from committing murder.

I think the more important issue is to help people who are ill BEFORE they kill in a psychotic episode.

Comments: Absolutely pathetic!!!! Do you honestly expect to gain vindication through this site? The bottom line is that 5 people died at the hands of Larry. He got his "just deserts." My husband suffers from bi-polar depression and we deal with it and are able to live a very healthy and happy life. The illness is no excuse for MURDER! You would probably feel differently if it had been one of your own children that had been snatched from you in an, oh so, violent manner. The death penalty in our country is a must. If not, prisons would overflow and they would start constructing them next to our children's schools. Which, oh by the way, they've started doing in Florida due to overflow. An eye for an eye. Killing these retched humans just eliminates the possiblity of them ever perpetrating the crime again.

Comments: I entered this site because after having watched 'a beautiful mind' i wanted to know more about this illness. After looking through this site i realised that it is just so much more. I can't even begin to imagine what you are going through and I am sorry. I now have a greater understanding of the illness though and therefore my views have changed. What you are doing is a great thing because it is showing that although he should still be here today, his life was not wasted as it is helping people gain understanding and he is in a better place where there is only one reality. thankyou.

Comments: Robison Family,
When you find time, please read where I wrote a lengthy message in Larry's memory book. In so many ways I can connect with your family's pain as I too have a 25 yr.old, bi-polar son who fell through the cracks of our fine medical/legal system and has been incarcerated in a psych unit of TDC in Richmond, TX for 3 years for the murder of my 80 year old father in 1999. Fortunately, (I guess you could say) he was given a plea bargain of 25 yrs. in which his first parole date hearing will be Aug. 2011. We are trying not to get our or his hopes up for a first parole because we know how very strict the system is, especially in Texas. I do not see how Pres. Bush sleeps at night knowing the many men & women he put to death when he was Governor of TX. I am so sorry for the loss of your son, Larry. If you loved him as much as I love my son, it goes without saying the pain never ends and neither does the love for our children no matter what they do in life. I cry out for justice for these poor tormented souls who are haunted by mental illness. No one knows or can possibly understand until they have witnessed first hand what affects it has on someone, the patient and the family. When will our nation educate itself enough to reach out and help those that are suffering from this terrible disease? Do people really believe that the mentally disturbed want their lives to be like that? I know my son cried and begged to be helped and we tried to get that help medically for him to relieve the pain inside that he could not describe or comprehend. But consequently, as I see it, he was failed both by a judge not totally committing him to long term treatment the second time he was admitted and the doctors for releasing him after just a week, stating he was not a threat to himself or others. He clearly, admitted wanting to end his own life and quite possibly thought of taking others with him, who knows. The "Privacy Act" prevented us, the family he lived with, from knowing his plans, feelings, treatment, medication reactions or anything that could have possibly prevented my dad's death. And the same goes for your situation as well. Don't they know that this action could prevent so many tragedies if only they would take more precautions. Maybe I'm finding blame on everyone but myself, but I will be the first to admit I made some major mistakes along the way and was in denial at first to his illness. But I knew him so very well, and I knew he was in terrible agony and dispair and us not being professionals had only to rely on those that were knowledgeable in that field. Needless to say, we were very disappointed in that area and now we are left with these painful losses in our family just like yourselves. I will pray for all of you as I ask that you do the same for me, my son and my 82 yr. old mother. In love and common bond, I remain sincerely..........

I would pray for forgiveness. In America we were built on the foundation "Christian Foundation". And this is built upon forgiveness. It does nothing to murder one person because another was hurt.

Comments: This web site makes me sick. My family and I are victims of Homicide. My Grandmother was robbed and murdered last summer (Aug.2000) by a monster who said he was all hyped up on drugs and shouldn't be held accountable for his actions. He had ten thousand excuses for what he did. I'm sick of these murderers tying to gain sympathy from the public. I understand that they have families too, and I'm sure someone out there loves them regardless. Their time would be better spent by getting these murderers to accept responsibility and accepting the pain and devastation that they have inflicted on others. They all deserve prison time. I have absolutely no sympathy for them. They should be made to rot in prison suffering for what they did. I read the story of this Larry Robison guy and what he did to five people inluding a child for Christ's sake. He deserved to die. It was really pathetic of his family to waste the courts time and make the victims families endure any further grief by all those damn appeals. Good riddance! One less murderer in the world and certainly one less murderer my tax dollars are supporting.

Comments: For what he did Larry deserved to die.

It's sad that he did what he did, and it's sad that
he had to die, but he did what he did, and he died
for it, as he should have.

It is sad that he can never unyolk himself from the
consequences of what he did, but then again, what he
did was to kill five other people, and nothing he
could have done after that, or nothing anyone else
could have done, could ever bring them back or still
the hurt all their families and friends felt. Larry
had to be responsible for what he did, and in my mind
being responsible for killing other people means he
had to die. You may disagree.

First of all, I should say that I am very much sorry about this sad happenings to you and the victims' families. But I should say that death penalty is not a solution at all. Comments: I noticed there were 3 conditions that had to be
met in order for Larry to be declared unfit for
execution. Unfortunately, Larry did not meet these
conditions however the simple fact that the disease
is not 100% understood should have stayed his
execution until such understanding existed. Those
commiting murder in the context of this condition
need to be isolated and studied not destroyed! The
state of Texas should be ashamed of their old world
nazi-isms of destroying people based on who they are.
Texas is sending the wrong message and frankly, i'de
vote on taking Texas OUT of the United States because
of their executions. I am sorry to those that lost
their lives and to Larry who fell victim to an understudied
illness.

Comments: I wish ever "normal" person on this earth had to live just one day as a mentally ill person. It would certainly change the way they feel. Com- passion is one of God's greatest gifts. That is why He said to "Tamper justice with mercy" as well as "Blessed are the Merciful for They Shall Obtain Mercy." People suffering from mental illness cannot control what their brain tells them to do. I feel for Larry's victims and their families, but I feel just as strongly for Larry and his family. Larry suffered more than any "normal" person can possible know. I'm sure Larry met a just and merciful God when he took his last breath. If God were not merciful, Christ would have died in vain and we would all be lost to enternal darkness. I apologize if I signed in twice, but I think my first entry was lost)

Comments: I recently introduced into the Department of Corrections, State of Michigan a plan to reduce recidivism and increase prisoner rehabilitation. The plan includes two groups called Recovery, Inc. and Alcoholics Anonymous/Alanon. Recovery, Inc. is a four-stop self-help group and Alcoholics Anonymous/Alanon is a twelve-step self-help group. Together a prisoner can learn between twenty and eighty phrases to change his thoughts to keep from harming himself and from injuring others. To read more about these two groups please search the following two websites: 1) http://www.Recovery-Inc.com and 2) http://www.Alcoholics-Anonymous.org. If you have any questions, please e-mail me at priscilla_ruth_fisher2000@Yahoo.com. I am sorry to hear of Larry's death. With a plan such as mine other prisoners, manic depressive and schizophrenic and the like of the mentally ill, will be rehabilitated to lead a sane and sober life. I have sent this same information to all forty-nine other states, etc. and many correctional institutions. I have also e-mailed the President and Vice-President and their wives and some senators and congressmen. There are other sources, media and the like that I have e-mailed to spread the word of this unique way to save lives. I use it myself as I am a manic depressive person and a recovered Alcoholic from a disfunctional family. I use my medication daily, attend groups as needed, some on a regular basis and look to my Higher Power for strength and guidance. I hope you are put more at ease knowing that there are people like myself who are working at reducing recidivism and increasing prisoner rehabilitation. Again, my sympathies to you. I am sure in my heart Larry and all who are prisoners because of their mental illness and addiction go to Heaven. We will all see and rejoice with them there in Heaven. My prayers go out to you and your family and friends. If I can be of any more support please e-mail me at priscilla_ruth_fisher2000@Yahoo.com. Thank you. Priscilla R. Fisher

Comments: Hello,

I am assisting a private investigator by the name of Tina Church. She lives in Mishawka, Indiana. Mrs. Church was successful in getting the only reprieve from then Governor George Bush, Jr., in the state of Texas on June 1st, 2000 for post conviction DNA testing for Ricky McGinn. For 10 years she has been working death row cases across the nation on a pro-bono basis.

Currently, she is working to establish two organizations called "The Other Victims Advocate," based in Indiana and another in Texas, where she is known as the "Angel of Death Row" by the inmates and they're families. She is very passionate and dedicated to educating people and changing the laws in the states that favor the death penalty. She has also been recently featured in Newsweek magazine and appeared on 60 Minutes II for her work, as well as the Dallas Morning News.

We are looking for any type of funding by private donors or through grants that may help get these very important organizations up and running effectively for the inmates still on death row today. If you have any information that would be important to her in finding this funding, it would be greatly appreciated by Mrs. Church as well as any death row inmate she can help. As a one woman army, it has been difficult work when there is no money for the right attorneys, defense teams, etc. So I am sure you can see the urgency in this request?

Thank you very much for your time and efforts on behalf of the inmates waiting to die in America's death row's.

Brian Martin, for Tina Church

Comments: Please pardon my coming back for a second helping - but I must.

On reading some of the other comments - it's quite plain that some people simply don't understand that if you're not in control, then you're not in control.

Do these people drive? If any of them had a sudden stroke behind the wheel, and while blacked out ran over and killed someone - would he not, by his own logic, also be guilty of murder?

Comments: Since the dawn of time, we've killed people to show people that killing people is wrong - if that was going to work, wouldn't it have worked by now? Will we ever learn how futile that is?

If killing is wrong - then killing is wrong.

Comments: It absolutely sickens me that sorrow for the REAL victims and the MURDERER, Larry Robison, are expressed in the same breath! Whether Robison remembered why he had so violently murdered these innocent people or not, the fact remains the same: HE WAS GUILTY OF MURDER. The real shame is that we taxpayers had to support him for as long as we did. How would you feel if you were the surviving family member of a BRUTALLY MURDERED VICTIM?...Where's the compassion now? My heart goes out to the REAL VICTIMS and their families. May they have closure with the EXECUTION of LARRY ROBISON.

Comments: I followed this case for many years; and, I will always believe it is wrong to kill a mentally ill person, no matter what they did. I conveyed my views to Vickie Barnett. She e-mailed be back; and, I am very happy that she has found some peace. I have never been a really happy person; but, I feel I have been touched by Larry's writings, especially his last letter to us all (we who cared). He has made me look at life in a whole new way. I can feel him living through me; and, I plan to make the rest of my life the happiest ever. Thank you Larry and Vicki. I also pray that the people who have commented with some really dreadful statments will find it in their hearts some day to feel differently. May God Bless us all each day.

Comments: 11-1-2000JD I have seen on tv the hospital like room where the man or woman is restrained before being injected with the poison that kills the physical life that began a conception.
perhaps if our laws allowed some kind of early adulthood intervention this sort of end could be avoided and women or men could save their lives and use them for making life much better for themselves and the innocent victims whose death is often forgotten by the time execution is planned. chapels of the one lost lamb might be able to save us all, one lost lamb at a time by the Shepherd who loves and cares for us all
the good shepherd we all read about in the Holy Book of both
Christians and Jews and the spiritual leaders of other world religions too. Peace JD pax romana pax universa amen.

Comments: I still think about Larry often. Vickie, I am still working with my teacher--I told you about that last May, I think. Once school starts again in a couple of weeks, I plan to pick-up where I left off, storming the student council for my anti-death penalty club. I won't shut up until changes are made! They snubbed me once, but this is a new year.

Comments: America, the Land of the Free & a leader in the world! If this was true, then medical treatment would have been prescribed rather than the easy option of death (to the state, not the families of the prisoner or victims). America has to realise that it's own human rights violations do not bode well with the rest of the world, and before it becomes a true leader in the world (making moral staements about other countries) it should clean up it's own act.
Time will not take away the loss that you feel, but now that he is the arms of someone who can help him, give your strength to your faith and look forward to a day in the future when you will meet again.
Kenny

Comments: Dear sweet Larry- you were my friend for many years. You wrote to me many pages of hope and love over the years. You will always have a special place in my heart. As long as i live, you will not be forgotten.
We all make mistakes, some more devestating than others. But your heart was gentle and your soul sought Light. I love you forever. A piece of me left this world last January. I will pray for and bless you always.
I pray, too, for our country. Killing is not made better by more killing. Compassion and forgiveness are the only things that will help us heal.
I loved Larry. We wrote volumes to each other. We even had the chance to speak via phone. May the killing end. May we as humans grow our souls, not our lust for vengence.
To his family I can only say that I am so sorry. Your brother, son, husband and father was a good man, not a monster. In the richest country in the world we still fail to help those who need it. My love to you...and always to Larry.

Comments: I did a research project this fall quarter on schizophrenia and that is when I came across Larry's case. I read all I could and all your information on this site helped alot in my understanding of this disease. I ended up writing alot about Larry's case in the paper, and I was so shocked at the way the hospital handles people with such severe diseases. I thought about Larry's stay of execution yesterday, and so I logged on to see what happened. I am very sorry about your loss, but happy to hear about his conversion to God before his death. I still feel strong about these issues and hope someday things will get better. God Bless You, Sara, Seattle, WA.
