I am only 15, but I find it appaling that there have been so many executions already. And then in certain states. Either we have the death penalty or no one does. Peace and faith to all those on the Row. Everyone has something to look forward to, even you guys.

Lisa, I am glad you found our site. We will look forward to your writings. I do know what you mean about let go and let God. Not easy, but there is a peace that comes with this attitude that you cannot get if you do not let go. I am glad you found it early.

What a wonderful site. I am hoping to do the same for my 22 year old son who is currently on Federal Death Row. With limited skills it has proven to be a formidable task. I have several writings that I will be submitting to your site in the future. However, one observation that I made from the contributions on your site so far is that I don't see God's influence in the lives of those who have relatives on Death Row. God has blessed me and family extremely through this tragedy and I know that he can and will do the same for the countless others out there in our situation. Currently, there are 3,711 people on Death Rows all over the U.S. The most important lesson that I have learned so far in the 3 years since my son's arrest is that I had to let go and let God have control. God has given me a peace in my spirit that I have never had in my entire life until now. He says in his word that we have not, because we ask not. I remember the first time that I walked into the court room during my son's trial. As soon as I stepped through the doorway I heard God's voice as clear as if you were speaking to me say, "Be still and know that I am God". Then, as I stood and listened as they condemned my son to death I remember with everything in me wanting to scream, "NO!" Instead, God gave me the strength to walk to my car, put a praise and worship CD in and sing praises to him for the 75 mile drive home. That's the power to God and that's what it means to give a "sacrifice" of praise. He is so precious and he has all that we have need of.

I remember hearing of this execution a few years ago and for some reason it came up on my screen tonight. I would like you to know that I am bi-polar and knows how it feels to be mentally ill. As in my case I am a danger to my self rather than to anyone else. There are many forms of mental illness and each one has their own, for lack of a better word, side effects. Our mental healthcare system, as a nation, is in terrible shape. It is hard to get insurance to pay more than 50% of costs for mental illness. If we could get society to keep in mind that most mental illnesses can be treated the same way as lets say a bad heart.Through medication and physical and psychological treatment. What Larry did was wrong and as he has said he takes on the responsibility of his actions. I do believe that if Larry could have received the correct treatment and medication that there would still be six people here today. Our government are the guilty ones who will not put in place hospitals and treatments necessarry to get to the root of the problem. We should all be treated the same whether we have insurance or not! This is just another tragedy that should not have happened

Veronica,
I along with many, many others do not view this website as pathetic. I view it as an attempt to call attention to the fact that many times people with serious mental illness do not receive effective treatment. And many a tragedy is the result. I am very happy that your husband is coping with his health problems so well. However, I should point out that bi-polar is not exactly the same as paranoid schizophrenia. You need to know that the same treatments and knowledge that are available today, were not available 20 years ago when this tragedy happened. Even so there are thousands and thousands of individuals who do not have insurance, or a caring family to make sure they receive treatment. And I hear from many families today, who are told by medical professionals that there is nothing that can be done if a person has not already been violent. After they have been, of course it is too late. I know that the bottom line is that 5 people died. Well actually 6 if you count Larry.
I would not feel differently if it had been someone in my family that was murdered. In fact I am very lucky to be alive today since Larry came to my house a few hours before the 5 murders with the gun in his pocket to kill me.
Sorry, I still don't believe in the death penalty. It will never prevent the next severely mentally ill person from committing murder.
I think the more important issue is to help people who are ill BEFORE they kill in a psychotic episode.

Absolutely pathetic!!!! Do you honestly expect to gain vindication through this site? The bottom line is that 5 people died at the hands of Larry. He got his "just deserts." My husband suffers from bi-polar depression and we deal with it and are able to live a very healthy and happy life. The illness is no excuse for MURDER! You would probably feel differently if it had been one of your own children that had been snatched from you in an, oh so, violent manner. The death penalty in our country is a must. If not, prisons would overflow and they would start constructing them next to our children's schools. Which, oh by the way, they've started doing in Florida due to overflow. An eye for an eye. Killing these retched humans just eliminates the possiblity of them ever perpetrating the crime again.

I entered this site because after having watched 'a beautiful mind' i wanted to know more about this illness. After looking through this site i realised that it is just so much more. I can't even begin to imagine what you are going through and I am sorry. I now have a greater understanding of the illness though and therefore my views have changed. What you are doing is a great thing because it is showing that although he should still be here today, his life was not wasted as it is helping people gain understanding and he is in a better place where there is only one reality. thankyou.

Robison Family, When you find time, please read where I wrote a lengthy message in Larry's memory book. In so many ways I can connect with your family's pain as I too have a 25 yr.old, bi-polar son who fell through the cracks of our fine medical/legal system and has been incarcerated in a psych unit of TDC in Richmond, TX for 3 years for the murder of my 80 year old father in 1999. Fortunately, (I guess you could say) he was given a plea bargain of 25 yrs. in which his first parole date hearing will be Aug. 2011. We are trying not to get our or his hopes up for a first parole because we know how very strict the system is, especially in Texas. I do not see how Pres. Bush sleeps at night knowing the many men & women he put to death when he was Governor of TX. I am so sorry for the loss of your son, Larry. If you loved him as much as I love my son, it goes without saying the pain never ends and neither does the love for our children no matter what they do in life. I cry out for justice for these poor tormented souls who are haunted by mental illness. No one knows or can possibly understand until they have witnessed first hand what affects it has on someone, the patient and the family. When will our nation educate itself enough to reach out and help those that are suffering from this terrible disease? Do people really believe that the mentally disturbed want their lives to be like that? I know my son cried and begged to be helped and we tried to get that help medically for him to relieve the pain inside that he could not describe or comprehend. But consequently, as I see it, he was failed both by a judge not totally committing him to long term treatment the second time he was admitted and the doctors for releasing him after just a week, stating he was not a threat to himself or others. He clearly, admitted wanting to end his own life and quite possibly thought of taking others with him, who knows. The "Privacy Act" prevented us, the family he lived with, from knowing his plans, feelings, treatment, medication reactions or anything that could have possibly prevented my dad's death. And the same goes for your situation as well. Don't they know that this action could prevent so many tragedies if only they would take more precautions. Maybe I'm finding blame on everyone but myself, but I will be the first to admit I made some major mistakes along the way and was in denial at first to his illness. But I knew him so very well, and I knew he was in terrible agony and dispair and us not being professionals had only to rely on those that were knowledgeable in that field. Needless to say, we were very disappointed in that area and now we are left with these painful losses in our family just like yourselves. I will pray for all of you as I ask that you do the same for me, my son and my 82 yr. old mother. In love and common bond, I remain sincerely..........
Vikki Myers

Larry, his family and friends--you are much in my thoughts today, the special day of his "wedding with his Beloved." His love stays with us. He is an inspiration and embodiment of the glory and forgiveness that is God. May we never forget that all Saints were once sinners and all sinners have the potential to become saints. We miss his smiling face and compassionate words.

Someone wrote: if u were face to such a terrible murder event what would u do ?? pls all of u ask to yourselves... I would pray for forgiveness. In America we were built on the foundation "Christian Foundation". And this is built upon forgiveness. It does nothing to murder one person because another was hurt. Happy Birthday Larry. As I sit here at my computer I know that you are by my side. And I love you. I understand you tried to get help. You reached out and was not heard. You are a good man and I am here for you. I lit a candle for you today, Larry. Please remember that there are those that understand. I certainly do. Here is a page regading me http://www.larryrobison.org/pages/meetingsusan.htm

This web site makes me sick. My family and I are victims of Homicide. My Grandmother was robbed and murdered last summer (Aug.2000) by a monster who said he was all hyped up on drugs and shouldn't be held accountable for his actions. He had ten thousand excuses for what he did. I'm sick of these murderers tying to gain sympathy from the public. I understand that they have families too, and I'm sure someone out there loves them regardless. Their time would be better spent by getting these murderers to accept responsibility and accepting the pain and devastation that they have inflicted on others. They all deserve prison time. I have absolutely no sympathy for them. They should be made to rot in prison suffering for what they did. I read the story of this Larry Robison guy and what he did to five people inluding a child for Christ's sake. He deserved to die. It was really pathetic of his family to waste the courts time and make the victims families endure any further grief by all those damn appeals. Good riddance! One less murderer in the world and certainly one less murderer my tax dollars are supporting.

For what he did Larry deserved to die.
It's sad that he did what he did, and it's sad that he had to die, but he did what he did, and he died for it, as he should have.
It is sad that he can never unyolk himself from the consequences of what he did, but then again, what he did was to kill five other people, and nothing he could have done after that, or nothing anyone else could have done, could ever bring them back or still the hurt all their families and friends felt. Larry had to be responsible for what he did, and in my mind being responsible for killing other people means he had to die. You may disagree.

i really enjoy your site, as it has a great deal of information about the death penalty and why it needs to be abolished. i was wondering if i could join your webring? My site borders on the militant and features the much-despuised Timothy McVeigh and his life on death row. Hopefully that won't put you off.

I would like to share my views regarding your web site and Larry Robison story. First of all, I should say that I am very much sorry about this sad happenings to you and the victims' families. But I should say that death penalty is not a solution at all. I live in Turkey and I am a moslem. My religion says that "Killing the murderer does not bring the victim back, nor does the family of the victim benefit from executing the murderer.

I think that the Death pen. is the stupidest thing because most of the people who are being put to death killed someone and are dieing for it but they are also being murdered. so there is really no point to being put to death. I am really sorry about the lose of Larry.

I noticed there were 3 conditions that had to be met in order for Larry to be declared unfit for execution. Unfortunately, Larry did not meet these conditions however the simple fact that the disease is not 100% understood should have stayed his execution until such understanding existed. Those commiting murder in the context of this condition need to be isolated and studied not destroyed! The state of Texas should be ashamed of their old world nazi-isms of destroying people based on who they are. Texas is sending the wrong message and frankly, i'de vote on taking Texas OUT of the United States because of their executions. I am sorry to those that lost their lives and to Larry who fell victim to an understudied illness.

I wish ever "normal" person on this earth had to live just one day as a mentally ill person. It would certainly change the way they feel. Com- passion is one of God's greatest gifts. That is why He said to "Tamper justice with mercy" as well as "Blessed are the Merciful for They Shall Obtain Mercy." People suffering from mental illness cannot control what their brain tells them to do. I feel for Larry's victims and their families, but I feel just as strongly for Larry and his family. Larry suffered more than any "normal" person can possible know. I'm sure Larry met a just and merciful God when he took his last breath. If God were not merciful, Christ would have died in vain and we would all be lost to enternal darkness. I apologize if I signed in twice, but I think my first entry was lost)

It's a pity that "normal" people can't feel what the mentally ill suffer through every minute of every day. I do not "pity" those who hate. Compassion is one of the greatest feelings we should posess. The mentally ill cannot control what their brain causes them to do, no matter how wrong those actions are. My heart goes out to Larry and his family as well as the victims and their families.

I found out recently that I have paranoid schizophrenia but I don't have any money or insurance for the medication.
I feel like somebody is going to kidnap me.
I don't have a computer at home to get e-mail and was wondering if people could send me letters, pamphlets and] information about treating and hopefully, success stories.

I wanted to offer you all my sypmathies. I believe the death penalty is the biggest evil sanctioned in the world, and I am ashamed that our country persists in practicing legalized murder. I do not believe it is ever OK, let alone in cases of mental disorders or mental retardation. I am very close to a paranoid schizophrenic who I worry about all the time, and it would hurt so much to see anything happen to her as a result.
I am sorry for your loss, and I apologize for the evil's of our government.

God Bless you all,its a shame that a country that will do so much for some does so little for others the death penalty needs to be stopped. So also does a lot of wrongs taking place in prisons.A few weeks ago a man died in a Texas prison because he was refused medical help. I have a pen pal there that spent a night alone in pain ,he also was refused help. I don't know what i can do to help but I am sure going to try. God Bless, Thelma

I recently introduced into the Department of Corrections, State of Michigan a plan to reduce recidivism and increase prisoner rehabilitation. The plan includes two groups called Recovery, Inc. and Alcoholics Anonymous/Alanon. Recovery, Inc. is a four-stop self-help group and Alcoholics Anonymous/Alanon is a twelve-step self-help group. Together a prisoner can learn between twenty and eighty phrases to change his thoughts to keep from harming himself and from injuring others. To read more about these two groups please search the following two websites: 1) http://www.Recovery-Inc.com and 2) http://www.Alcoholics-Anonymous.org. If you have any questions, please e-mail me at priscilla_ruth_fisher2000@Yahoo.com. I am sorry to hear of Larry's death. With a plan such as mine other prisoners, manic depressive and schizophrenic and the like of the mentally ill, will be rehabilitated to lead a sane and sober life. I have sent this same information to all forty-nine other states, etc. and many correctional institutions. I have also e-mailed the President and Vice-President and their wives and some senators and congressmen. There are other sources, media and the like that I have e-mailed to spread the word of this unique way to save lives. I use it myself as I am a manic depressive person and a recovered Alcoholic from a disfunctional family. I use my medication daily, attend groups as needed, some on a regular basis and look to my Higher Power for strength and guidance. I hope you are put more at ease knowing that there are people like myself who are working at reducing recidivism and increasing prisoner rehabilitation. Again, my sympathies to you. I am sure in my heart Larry and all who are prisoners because of their mental illness and addiction go to Heaven. We will all see and rejoice with them there in Heaven. My prayers go out to you and your family and friends. If I can be of any more support please e-mail me at priscilla_ruth_fisher2000@Yahoo.com. Thank you. Priscilla R. Fisher

Hello,
I am assisting a private investigator by the name of Tina Church. She lives in Mishawka, Indiana. Mrs. Church was successful in getting the only reprieve from then Governor George Bush, Jr., in the state of Texas on June 1st, 2000 for post conviction DNA testing for Ricky McGinn. For 10 years she has been working death row cases across the nation on a pro-bono basis.
Currently, she is working to establish two organizations called "The Other Victims Advocate," based in Indiana and another in Texas, where she is known as the "Angel of Death Row" by the inmates and they're families. She is very passionate and dedicated to educating people and changing the laws in the states that favor the death penalty. She has also been recently featured in Newsweek magazine and appeared on 60 Minutes II for her work, as well as the Dallas Morning News.
We are looking for any type of funding by private donors or through grants that may help get these very important organizations up and running effectively for the inmates still on death row today. If you have any information that would be important to her in finding this funding, it would be greatly appreciated by Mrs. Church as well as any death row inmate she can help. As a one woman army, it has been difficult work when there is no money for the right attorneys, defense teams, etc. So I am sure you can see the urgency in this request?
Thank you very much for your time and efforts on behalf of the inmates waiting to die in America's death row's.
Brian Martin, for Tina Church

Please pardon my coming back for a second helping - but I must.
On reading some of the other comments - it's quite plain that some people simply don't understand that if you're not in control, then you're not in control.
Do these people drive? If any of them had a sudden stroke behind the wheel, and while blacked out ran over and killed someone - would he not, by his own logic, also be guilty of murder?

Since the dawn of time, we've killed people to show people that killing people is wrong - if that was going to work, wouldn't it have worked by now? Will we ever learn how futile that is?
If killing is wrong - then killing is wrong.

It absolutely sickens me that sorrow for the REAL victims and the MURDERER, Larry Robison, are expressed in the same breath! Whether Robison remembered why he had so violently murdered these innocent people or not, the fact remains the same: HE WAS GUILTY OF MURDER. The real shame is that we taxpayers had to support him for as long as we did. How would you feel if you were the surviving family member of a BRUTALLY MURDERED VICTIM?...Where's the compassion now? My heart goes out to the REAL VICTIMS and their families. May they have closure with the EXECUTION of LARRY ROBISON.

I followed this case for many years; and, I will always believe it is wrong to kill a mentally ill person, no matter what they did. I conveyed my views to Vickie Barnett. She e-mailed be back; and, I am very happy that she has found some peace. I have never been a really happy person; but, I feel I have been touched by Larry's writings, especially his last letter to us all (we who cared). He has made me look at life in a whole new way. I can feel him living through me; and, I plan to make the rest of my life the happiest ever. Thank you Larry and Vicki. I also pray that the people who have commented with some really dreadful statments will find it in their hearts some day to feel differently. May God Bless us all each day.

11-1-2000JD I have seen on tv the hospital like room where the man or woman is restrained before being injected with the poison that kills the physical life that began a conception. perhaps if our laws allowed some kind of early adulthood intervention this sort of end could be avoided and women or men could save their lives and use them for making life much better for themselves and the innocent victims whose death is often forgotten by the time execution is planned. chapels of the one lost lamb might be able to save us all, one lost lamb at a time by the Shepherd who loves and cares for us all the good shepherd we all read about in the Holy Book of both Christians and Jews and the spiritual leaders of other world religions too. Peace JD pax romana pax universa amen.

I still think about Larry often. Vickie, I am still working with my teacher--I told you about that last May, I think. Once school starts again in a couple of weeks, I plan to pick-up where I left off, storming the student council for my anti-death penalty club. I won't shut up until changes are made! They snubbed me once, but this is a new year.

America, the Land of the Free & a leader in the world! If this was true, then medical treatment would have been prescribed rather than the easy option of death (to the state, not the families of the prisoner or victims). America has to realise that it's own human rights violations do not bode well with the rest of the world, and before it becomes a true leader in the world (making moral staements about other countries) it should clean up it's own act. Time will not take away the loss that you feel, but now that he is the arms of someone who can help him, give your strength to your faith and look forward to a day in the future when you will meet again. Kenny

He has been severely abused since early childhood, and the jury regarded that as aggravating evidebce!!! I just can't understand...

Dear sweet Larry- you were my friend for many years. You wrote to me many pages of hope and love over the years. You will always have a special place in my heart. As long as i live, you will not be forgotten. We all make mistakes, some more devestating than others. But your heart was gentle and your soul sought Light. I love you forever. A piece of me left this world last January. I will pray for and bless you always. I pray, too, for our country. Killing is not made better by more killing. Compassion and forgiveness are the only things that will help us heal. I loved Larry. We wrote volumes to each other. We even had the chance to speak via phone. May the killing end. May we as humans grow our souls, not our lust for vengence. To his family I can only say that I am so sorry. Your brother, son, husband and father was a good man, not a monster. In the richest country in the world we still fail to help those who need it. My love to you...and always to Larry.

I did a research project this fall quarter on schizophrenia and that is when I came across Larry's case. I read all I could and all your information on this site helped alot in my understanding of this disease. I ended up writing alot about Larry's case in the paper, and I was so shocked at the way the hospital handles people with such severe diseases. I thought about Larry's stay of execution yesterday, and so I logged on to see what happened. I am very sorry about your loss, but happy to hear about his conversion to God before his death. I still feel strong about these issues and hope someday things will get better. God Bless You, Sara, Seattle, WA.

Concerning to this person called lori, who wrote this text before me: I'm sorry that you are so unsatisfied in your life. My brother was killed when I was 19 by a mentally ill person. And I was able to forgive this person, although he had killed my brother. Maybe some day you will be able to be more human than you are now, if you are human in any way. Every human being is of more value than the worst thing they have ever done

this web site makes me sick. i dont care that larry was insane! an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth, and frankly i think he had it to easy, those people had to die in a painful sick way, and their families had to have nightmares about it for the rest of their lives. larry should have been killed the same way he killed those people. i dont care if he was insane or not. he got to know when he died, he got to say goodbye to all his loved ones etc... he knew!! those people had no clue what was to happen to them, they never got to say good bye, or die peaceful in sleep!! he had it way to easy! he should of died the same way, i wish he would of done his in another country, in afica he would of died in pain, the way he should of. i dont feel sorry for him at all. i feel sorry for the familys of the victims. it makes me sick, that u and your family got to say good bye and that u have back up from others.. this world is so messed up, and i'm glad larry is gone. i just wish it was worst for him. god bless the family of the victims.. and it you take this off i will repost it every day. let others have there view. nomatter what u say or do, that will never change. people like me will be here and feel this way. forever

I also have a son currently incarserated at Fishkill Correctional Facility diagnoses with parnoid schizphrenia. He is currently serving 2-4 in state prison for two violent felonies while in a psychotic state. All of the families efforts and support to keep him out of prison did no good. He will be eligible for parole in Dec. of 2000. He is struggling to come to terms with his mental illness. He was diagnosed with his illness while awaiting sentencing in the county jail where he spent 13 months.Treatment is often denied a person with mental illness and it is very difficult for the families and also for the inmate. I would like to say I'm sorry that the system failed Larry and my heart goes out to his family.

I post the following letter from Larry to his victims families here for the benefit of TE and others who for some reason do not feel that Larry had remorse for his crime. He had remorse from the very beginning and did not himself understand why he committed these acts. The following words are from the pen and the heart of Larry Robison.
To the family and friends of Ricky Bryant, Earline Barker, Georgia & Scott Reed, and Bruce Gardner Dear Ones,
I want to especially say that I am very sorry if the recent publicity about my case has opened any old wounds. It was not my intention to do so. Rather than cause you the slightest pain or discomfort I'd have gone without a fanfare if it had been in my control. But everything must bow before the Will of God. And the Will of God is I am called forward to testify to the truth. The truth is this:
I did a terrible thing by taking the lives of your loved ones. I cannot pretend to know the depths of grief and heartache it has caused you. To say I'm sorry seems so hollow. It will not bring them back. There has not been a day gone by that I haven't wished to offer my life in exchange for theirs. But alas, neither will that bring them back. Yet if my death will bring closure to the hurt I've caused you, and help the healing begin then I go gladly.
I wish I could tell you why things happened as they did but it is all still very much a mystery to me. Perhaps in the world to come everything will be revealed. All I know is that I was not in my right mind when I did it. I don't say this to excuse my actions, for I have never denied my own responsibility in them and have always been prepared to accept the consequences.
I have prayed to God to forgive me for I believe we are all God's children and when we sin against one another we ultimately sin against Him. And as God's nature is to be loving and merciful I also believe that just as those dear souls are now in His Loving Care, He has also forgiven me.
Now I would like to ask you, the family and friends of Ricky Bryant, Earline Barker, Georgia & Scott Reed, and Bruce Gardner, to forgive me as well. I ask this not for my sake but for yours. I ask that you find it in your hearts to emulate your Heavenly Father by forgiving me and I pray that He give you the peace that comes with that forgiveness.
If we only knew how much God loves us all we'd be dancing in the streets for joy. One day we will all know and see the Light of God. To hasten that day let unconditional love and understanding rule our hearts and minds. What pains and sufferings we had to endure on this earth will seem like nothing in the Ocean of His Love. When your earthly sojourns are finished I'll see you there.
In His Precious Love,
Always,
Larry Keith Robison

i am 14 and have just written a play which will be performemed in 2 weeks. it is called the quality of mercy and is about an innocent man who is on death row and its message is against capital punishment. it is a story of how the man on death row's family have to suffer and they have to live after he dies, also how horrific the execution is. i was doing research and came across this website, it made me cry it was so upsetting. i am from shetland which is in scotland, we don't have a policy of capital punishment but i was still fascinated in this subject. i send out my deepest sympathy and i am horrified that they executed larry. this website moved me and has helped me a lot in my research. i would like to send out my sympathy and i shall pray for you. god bless, love cath xxx

Dear TE, No one here has argued against the seriousness of Larry's crime, or the tragedy inflicted on innocents as a result of it. You are entitled to your opinion. This website was designed by Larry's sister, who is the webmaster. She and I share many of your sentiments with regards to Larry's taking responsibility for his actions. As his closest friend, I held Larry's feet to fire for 17 years. My other name is Kim Robison-Derby, and you can read my page on this website if you desire. That is about the best I could do as there was no way to turn back the clock and change his actions. My sympathies too, lie with the victim's families. However, despising Larry and his family, while natural for them, does not solve their dilemma, bring back the victims, or ease their suffering. Larry died for his crime. He felt he deserved death, and he battled a difficult and draining battle with his family to be allowed by them to drop his appeals and pay for his crime. The death penalty is murder, whether you acknowledge that or not, and Larry's eighteen year old daughter, his mother and father, his sisters and brothers, neices and nephews--all of his family-- are every bit as much victimized by Larry's actions and his death as his victims were. I find some of your comments callous and full of animosity toward other innocents. You have no idea what it is like to be the family member of a mass murderer, or the impact that it has had on children. My children. So while you are entitled to your opinion, and outrage, please remember that we are entitled to our grief, and to remember Larry as he became after being forced for 17 years to look at his crime, and not as the ill, delusional madman who committed the acts. God bless you.

I met Lois and Ken last in 1999 on the Tennessee Journey of Hope From Violence to Healing. Lois traveled with the group a bit longer and I was always taken with her gentleness and resolve. She is very brave to stand in front of strangers and tell Larry's story and I believe that the whole family stands as an inspiration for others.
The web site also is very inspiring and can be a great help to others, families of death row inmates as well as others with difficult roads ahead of them.
God bless you all.

A couple of final comments. The webmaster stated that he/she will only delete comments made on this site which contain vulgar language. The exact post which proceeds this entry was previously deleted yet a post from Christine posted on 1/21/2000 containing extremely vulgar language but is anti-death penalty remains. Why is that? Also, I have expressed no hatred towards any members of Larry's family I have only commented on the fact that Larry needed to take responsiblity for his actions. His actions included decapitation and mutilation of 5 people. Those are facts. However, it took 18yrs for Larry to accept this responsiblity. Finally, the comment about consideration for Larry's family. I am sure you are all good people and this is an extemely tragic situation but that does not change the fact that a member of your family committed these atrocities. No matter what you print about Larry and how sweet a person he once was or became after these heinous crimes will ever bring back the victims families' loved ones. Larry's death brought closure for them and I for one have much more compassion for them than for Larry's family.

This is the same accounting of Larry's crimes which I previously posted and which mysteriously disappeared. I ask that you leave this up so that people may see for themselves what type of person Larry was. There is no vulgar language used. Everything here is the truth.
Larry Robison was sentenced to die for the August 10, 1982, murder of Bruce Gardner, a General Dynamics assembly line worker. Robison, a former construction worker from Abilene, was arrested Aug. 11, 1982, in Wichita, Kan., driving the car of 33-year-old Bruce Gardner of Lake Worth. The previous day, Bruce was one of five people found mutilated, shot or stabbed in neighboring cottages near Lake Worth. Also killed were Bruce’s girlfriend, Georgia Ann Reed, 34; her mother, Earline Barker, 55; and Georgia’s 11-year-old son, Scott. Robison, who has acknowledged a history of drug abuse, was convicted of capital murder for Bruce's death. But before Bruce arrived at the Shore View Drive cottage, Robison had slain Rickey Lee Bryant in the bathroom of the home they briefly shared. Rickey, 31, had been shot twice in the head, decapitated, sexually mutilated and stabbed 49 times. His penis was found in the kitchen sink and his testicles were never found. Robison then went next door and killed Georgia Ann Reed in her bed. Reed's son Scott, who in two days would have been 12, was killed in the living room. Under his body was a hammer, which authorities suggested may have indicated that the boy had intended to defend his mother. Reed's mother, 55-year-old Earline Barker, was also killed in the living room. She had been recuperating from surgery to correct a brain aneurysm. Bruce was killed when he arrived to pick up Georgia for a date. Rickey's mother found her son's body, posed with his head in the crook of his arm. Authorities then found the bodies of the other victims. Greg Pipes, the assistant district attorney who prosecuted Robison, said the idea that he was insane is an illusion. “They did diagnose him (as schizophrenic),” Pipes said. “But there are an awful lot of people diagnosed as schizophrenic that aren’t killing people." Pipes also stated that if Robison's sentence were to be commuted to a life sentence, he would be released from prison in a few years since mandatory release laws were in effect at the time of his crime. Mandatory release requires an inmate to be given "good time" credit of one and a half days for every day served in prison. When the inmate's time served plus his good time credits equal his sentence, he must be released, regardless of his potential as a future danger to society, after only one third of the actual sentence is served. Inside the death chamber, Rhonda Kreps, whose mother, sister and nephew were slain by Robison, dabbed her eyes as she watched him die. She sobbed heavily and was comforted by the other 5 witnesses and by prison officials as she was helped outside. After the execution, relatives of the 5 people Robison killed issued a statement saying, "Justice has been done. Larry Robison has paid with his life for the 17-year nightmare of trauma and heartache he caused for the families of his victims," the family said. "We will cherish the memories of our loved ones. We are grateful for the support of our friends and families, the community and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Victims Services Division."

To the Webmaster and Radhe:
I feel I must comment. I had previously posted a comment about Larry which contained no vulgar language. It was posted on the site for two days then "mysteriously" disappeared. It was unflattering to Larry I admit, however, it was the truth and reality.
As for my self-righeousness....well, as an emergency room physician for the last 9 years I can speak from experience that I have seen and known death. There is nothing more disturbing than to look into the eyes of a patient who is awaiting an imminent death. As a perserver of life it is a helpless feeling. I would care to wager you have never had the experience. People do not seem to die in grisly detail in the sterile fantasy world you seem to live in. They die covered in blood and every body fluid you can dream of in the real world. I can only guess what was going through Larry's mind as he murdered five innocent people. To watch a person breathe a last breath then to move on to his next victim. You may wish to ignore the grisly details of his crime but I guarantee you it would have sickened you to witness even one autopsy of one of his victims. They were not simply murdered they were tortured. Regardless of the mental illness excuse, Larry needed to take resposibility for his crimes. By being put to death he has taken on that responsiblity. As for compassion, I have compassion for all innocent victims. I, however, do not have compassion for cold blooded murders who inflict brutality and mutilation on another human being. It surprises me that you would even attack me, an innocent person who has committed no crime, by defending a convicted mass murderer. I guess your comment on love and hatred goes both ways....

I think that the web page shows that the criminal justice sytem can mess up. I just hope that people when they look at the page can realize that retribution is not always the answer and that one should look at whatever means to prevent something like this to happen again.

I am a disciple of Master Sant Ajaib Singh. I had not conciously sought this site out, but by his Grace stumbled upon it. Coincidentally, last night in our Satsang in Vancouver, Canada, Larry's last letter and an account of his final days was read aloud. I believe, we were all moved and touched by this story. The breadth of the Master's love is boundless and makes one feel so humble. All of us should rejoice that Larry is with his Master. Love and Peace to all in His Holy Name.

Dear Radhe, Thank you for your comment to TE.
Dear TE, As you will soon find out, I do not remove entries from this guestbook UNLESS they contain vulgar language. I have only had to remove 2 entries for that reason since this guestbook was started. I do not oppose people posting different opinions, however, I (or someone else) may very well make a comment about it since most who do post negative comments do not really understand the situation or have not read this entire website. The purpose of this website is not to sensationalize the gory details of Larry's crime. There are other places on the web that have done that. The purpose of this webiste is to offer education as to why it happened. If you will read the entries here, you will find that most people have been considerate and supportive of Larry and his family.

Dear TE, Why do you think that just because no other opposing statement has been made here that opposing sentiments are not allowed here? Why do you extend an expression of hatred toward family members who have endured a level of pain you have only witnessed? You are not even brave enough to list your name, yet you impose your self-righteousness here, as if the people who created and maintain this website were responsible for Larry's crime.
Love is stronger than hatred. May you overcome yours.

I'm very disappointed in your guest book. Apparently you feel only persons who are sympathetic to you cause should be allowed to sign. Larry was a cold blooded killer who lived 18 years too long. Why don't you leave this up so people can judge for themselves. Also this is much kinder than the full detailed gaphic version with photos.

I found your site and read most of its contents. I am deeply moved by Larry and saddend in my Heart over this execution!! My prayers go out to all!! Justice fails!! please see my site, this can happen to any one or our loved ones!!! also mental health issues should be considered and treatment given, i had some issues with the law for i have some mental issues and found myself in trouble since an early age of 12 yrs old, sentanced to cya and got off parolle by age 21. it is unfortunate that some people end up incarserated all behind mental problems and given extreme sentances justice does not care for people with mental health, i do not believe dealth penalties are justice it is another murder, i do feel for the familys on BOTH sides but death is cruel on both sides we all know, god bless much love PEACE FLACS

I am so sorry about Larry's death. I know the fears, obstacles, etc. of paranoid schizophrenia. My Dad was one, for more than 22 yrs he lived with the disease, Oct. 98 - just 4 days after he'd been released from the hospital he became worse than he'd ever been. My sister and I begged, cried, pleaded for them to get him back into the hospital before he hurt someone. But no one listened, Dad commited suicide that day- 2 gunshots to the chest and we were the ones to find him just minutes after it'd happened. We were so afraid of him hurting someone else, his voices had always told him to kill us in the past. The previous week- the reason they agreed he needed hospitalized was that he was convinced another man in town was Satan and it was his duty to stop him. But only after we'd begged all the weekend before for some assistance and received none, but were able to convince him to go with us to the emergency room and he was so psychotic that he talked openly to the dr. (which he was usually very good at hiding his symptoms for brief moments when he wanted). We reminded them of this yet....the so-called 'psychiatrist' told us to make him take a double dose of medicine and take away his guns and he would see him on Monday at his scheduled appt. The really hard thing to take about it too is that they got by with it. He's dead, they know it's their negligence that caused it, but...oh well. I am grateful that he didn't hurt anyone else. He lived in a mobile home park and was so paranoid that day, I'm just grateful to him for that. It makes me sad though he took his own life, he had his first great granddaughter on the way and had been a good grandpa for my kids, a good Dad- considering the struggle his every day life was. I'm angry with a system that allows those with mental illness WHICH CAN BE TREATED AND CONTROLLED to be forgotten about and either receive no treatment/poor treatment then penalize them for their actions and ignore the "professionals" who are supposed to be treating them negligence. Anyway, I am sorry for you, your family and the victims' families. Such a loss of lives for something that could have been prevented.

I am grieved about Larry's execution and about the death's of his victims. I'm not sure if people can lay blame on anything, but I blame these six deaths on the inability of the mental health system in the U.S. to provide comprehensive care to people who need it. How many other deaths can be attributed to our odd system?

Thank you for providing a wonderful informative web site about important issues that most, never really think about. Until it touches your life, either a murder involving your loved ones, or your loved one being the offender or accused, most of do not sincerely think of the pros and cons of the Death Penalty. We form ficticious beliefs of right or wrong.
I lost my daddy and step-mother to murder, and today I, too, am opposed to the Death Penalty, and fight to prevent execution for the accused offender.
God Bless you all.

I am so sorry to hear about this story so late! My condolences go out to you from the bottom of my heart. Please read these lyrics, I thought of them when I read about your son:
"Fly, fly little wing Fly beyond imagining The softest cloud, the whitest dove Upon the wind of heaven's love Past the planets and the stars Leave this lonely world of ours Escape the sorrow and the pain And fly again
Fly, fly precious one Your endless journey has begun Take your gentle happiness Far too beautiful for this Cross over to the other shore There is peace forevermore But hold this memory bittersweet... Until we meet.
Fly, fly do not fear Don't waste a breath, don't shed a tear Your heart is pure, your soul is free Be on your way, don't wait for me Above the universe you'll climb On beyond the hands of time The moon will rise, the sun will set.... But I won't forget."
take care. Please visit my website too.

You fought so hard and you are such a loving and sensitive woman. It is all so sad, like I was following Larry's case all the time. SHIT! How can we ever stop that unjustice? Vickie, please you need to get on with your own life too. Don't let that fucked up system victemize you too much. Allways your friend, Christiane

Needle - What are your credentials to diagnose? This is not justice! Killings will continue until these truly ill people recieve the treatment the GOVERNMENT and LAW of the US gives them the choice to deny! Alfonso - MENTAL ILLNESS (not the individuals with it) IS like Cancer! You are close, but sorry, no cigar! We need to treat the illness not kill people because they have cancer or schizophrenia for that matter - such a reaction steams from fear and ignorance. Unity and education are a better weapon. Try it. Angie - Not only do I know the pain - I know the daily fear - my brother is schizophrenic and has made threats on my life and the lives of many others for years. When I share this information with those who were supposed to "treat" him or with the law enforcement (police, sheriffs office, etc) law enforcement tells me they can't take action until he "does something". Well, J. Hinkley "did something", another p.schiz man "did something" and 2 officers at the US capital lost their lives. Larry Robison "did something". In my opinion the "crazy" people are those in the mental health / treatment profession and the governing bodies of our nation who don't recognize our current legal system and treatment of those with brain illnesses has a huge hole causing great pain, suffering and loss to our nation. To all opposed to this plight - it is a difficult issue. But your anger is misdirected. Be angry at the ones who give individuals lacking insight and rational decision making the right to make a choice of weather or not they will accept treatment. That, my fellow americans - is crazy!

My husband is also a paranoid schizophrenic. This illness destroys lives but nobody wants to talk about it and the government don't seem to care. Their "solution" is to wait until the victim is on the streets or commits a crime, then they just lock them up or in this case execute them.
Larry and his family will be in my thoughts today.

I have wrestled with the death penalty a long time. I do not believe that this does anything to deter crime, nor do I think it is econmically feasable for a civilized society to use it as a punishment. It costs far more for the endless round of appeals that result in the death penalty laws. the penalty is archaic and unjust.

Below you will find my e-mail to GB Jr in stature:
I saw the 48 Hour prsenetation of the Larry Robison Case. I feel that he did wrong and he is a threat to public safety, but I do not think you should murder him. He cannot remember why he murdered his victims, but you, sir, are sane enough to remember today and the day after he is dead why you murdered him. You will devistate his friends and family member. You already have when you came within 4 hours of murdering him. I regret that his victim families have been devistated. I nor you can prevent that. It was not in our power to prevent that. But it is in your power to prevent Larry's friends and family from becoming devisatated. Put him away for life but don't murder him. The pain will only last minutes for Larry. It will last a lifetime for his friends and family member.
Don't do it. You can prevent another tragedy, don't repeat the crime.

I am still keeping the candles of hope burning for Larry and his family. In the meantime, I would like to send the following message for the family. It is a poem written by Mother Theresa, called FORGIVENESS, and reads as follows:
People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered; Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, People may accuse you of selfish, ulterio motives; Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies; Succeed anyway. If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you; Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight; Build anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous; Be happy anyway. The Good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow; Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough; Give the world the best you've got anyway. You see, in the final analysis, It is between you and God; It was never between you and them anyway.
The barbarians in Huntsville are determined to get their pound of flesh, their drop of blood, and it seems that nothing can stop them. Is that the example they are setting the youngsters in society--an eye for an eye, a life for a life, render evil for evil, thou shalt kill, and we will kill you first. We have the machinery, we have the power, and we want to psychology destroy you and your family for being who you are, or what you are. When will Legally Sanctioned violence ends. Should we forgive this machinery of hate, when they do not forgive?
I wish you all continued strength at this very sad, and difficult time.
Love, Evonne.

I am the wife of a man who was sentenced to the Sterling Correctional Facility in Colorado. His name is James and we just celebrated our 3rd anniversary on 12-31-99. There was a No Contact Order issued at his sentencing that I am currently trying to have recinded. I was never given an explanation as to why the order was placed, thus, have not seen my husband in over a year. Somewhat trivial in comparison to Larry's situation, however very important to me. I am thankful for Larry's stay of exacution. I wish you only the best and will keep you in my prayers. Sincerely, La Vonne

Know one can know the horrible pain a family goes threw when a family member is so hatefully murdered unless you have lived it. I have a cousin who was murdered and his killer has already been put to death. While I'm sorry the Robisons had the misfortune of having a homicidal son I agree with the state of Texas. Even though it is now claimed that Larry is mentally ill, this should not stop his date with death. He needs to pay for his crimes sick or not.

I wonder how many of you out there would be supporting Larry, if someone you loved more than life itself was the MURDER VICTIM. Well my brother was murdered over 20 years ago and my life is still upside down and I don't ever see that changing. At least Larry has a chance for his life to be saved and if it isn't his family will have that last opportunity to say I love you, good bye. I did not get that chance before the gunshot rang out and took his life! So you get no pity here! You may say I am bitter and you are damn right I am, the only ones who deserve pity in this situation is Larry's family, they did not pull the trigger HE did. But I am sorry I believe in the death penalty with all my heart, and most of you who don't have absolutely no idea what it is to face life knowing your loved one died at the hands of someone else.

I sent an earlier message. I already correspond with two men at Ellis 1 Unit, but I will be writing to Larry to say hello, and to wish him well. I am not a Christian, but I believe in God, and in Prayer. I also believe in common decency, in humility, and in what is right. We cannot continue the cycle of violence that exists in our society. There has to be another way of dealing with violent crimes. The first step is to have an amnesty of weapons, to dis-arm police officers as ours are in Britain, to clean up the streets of drugs and other forms of crimes that cause our future generations to become seduced. We have to insist on having rehabilitations within the penal system, or it will not work. Capital punishment does not work. It only perpetrates further violence. If we cannot have Statesmen and women who are willing to take a chance, and do the right thing, that includes high court judges, what hope is there for the future? My daughter was harmed by a stranger who stalked her. I still hurt, she is still far from being healed 6 years down the line. Like Larry's family, I campaigned. I wrote the Bill that became the 1997 Protection from Harassment Act, but I have ho hate within me. I try to understand, and to offer help instead. The US Penal system, and its Government, and in particular--Governor Bush would be much Bigger in heart and spirit, if they showed mercy to Larry--a sick man, and to Johnny Penry. All those people who support Capital Punishment, please ask yourselves--If the shoes were on the other foot, would I feel the same way still? Is it right that we should render evil for evil? Should there be an eye for an eye? If so--how many times have we ever said "Lord have mercy on me"? Why ask for mercy, if we cannot show mercy? AMERICA, PLEASE WAKE UP!.

I was at the conference held in Austin on November 6th. I am from England, and campaigned for the Anti-Stalking legislationed that was passed in 1997, here. I am very active here in England, trying to help Texans, and other Americans to achieve their goal of phasing out the cruel, and pre-meditated murders of their citizens. My thoughts are with Larry at this very terrible time, and more so for the loved ones that will be left to mourn his passing. He is very deeply thought of, and is remembered in our prayers. I wish you the strength that it requires to fight this battle. May God give you the faith and courage to carry on, and we pray that Larry's life will be spared. We will be writing to Governor Bush, and a letter will be sent to yourselves.
God Bless you as a family, and Larry as a solitary person facing an uncertain future at the hands of Satan's Messengers. Please try to keep going for him. If it did not work for Larry, the effort will not be in vain. There are many others like him in the system, and the struggle is for all of them. I join my hands with yours in unity, and brotherly love, as you traverse this difficult path. God Bless you for the new Millennium.
