OUTCOME OF NOVEMBER 8, 1999 HEARING

On November 8, 1999, a hearing was held in the 297th Circuit Court. For the first time in any of his trials or hearings, Larry Robison took the stand and offered the only testimony in the hearing. He had a few words to say most of which were an expression of remorse for his victims. Larry offered his apologies to all of the victims family members for the pain they have endured throughout the appeals process and stated that it was never his wish nor his decision to hurt them more. He said that there were people who love him and do not want him to die. Larry said he was prepared to stipulate to the doctors reports and is willing to accept the decision of the court. A request by one of Larry's attorney's for postponement and further testing was denied.

There were three questions that were to be answered by the doctor's who evaluated Larry. The judge declared that Larry is competent to be executed due to the following answers to three questions:

1) Larry understands that he is going to be executed
2) Larry understands that his execution is eminent
3) Larry knows why the state is going to kill him.

After the court room was cleared, Larry's family asked if they could have a short contact visit with Larry. The judge at first refused but later changed his mind and each of the family members who were present were allowed to walk to the railing and give him a hug and a kiss and tell him that we loved him. Each family member was allowed approximately 30 seconds.
