The day my son Christopher was arrested changed everything about all of
our lives. Not only did I lose my son, we lost our home and an entire way
of life. Only people who have walked in these shoes are capable of understanding the total turmoil this causes. You also lose a lot of friends and family members. The pain and the isolation never stops. It is an everyday battle and there will be no end until that family member is out of prison. You start out thinking that this is going to get easier.....but it never does. Every time we leave that visiting yard, they are taking him all over again. There has only been one other incident in my life that even compares to the pain of losing Christopher to prison........and that was the death of my father. My pastor told me once that what we had to endure was harder than the victims families. I couldn't believe what he was saying......he explained.....they can choose to go on with their lives, but we can't because we have to live this everyday of our lives, there is no moving on. |
